Garage door repairs in Zimbabwe work differently from repairs in a city, and pretending otherwise helps nobody. We manufacture in South Africa and our own team travels up on booked trips, so a repair here is planned rather than same-day. What we can do is make sure the visit fixes everything, and that you are not left waiting on a part that has to cross a border.
Garage door repairs we carry out in Zimbabwe
- Broken torsion and extension springs replaced in matched pairs, rated to the door.
- Snapped or frayed cables renewed on both sides with the drums reset.
- Worn rollers and hinges replaced so the door stops binding in the track.
- Bent or misaligned tracks straightened, re-shimmed or replaced.
- Panel damage repaired or replaced section by section.
- Motor faults diagnosed against the door rather than in isolation.
Diagnosing properly before we travel
This is where a Zimbabwe repair is won or lost. Before a vehicle leaves we want photographs of the fault, the springs, the cable drums, the tracks and any plate on the motor, plus the opening size. From that we can usually identify what has failed and what else is likely to be near the end of its life, and we load accordingly. Guessing means arriving with the wrong part and a border crossing between you and the right one.
We replace what is about to fail, not only what has failed
On a normal city job, replacing a single broken spring is reasonable because we can come back cheaply. Here it is not. If one spring has gone, its partner is the same age and we replace both. If the cables are corroded we renew them while we are there. It costs a little more on the day and it saves a trip that would cost a great deal more.
Repair or replace, decided honestly
If the frame is square, the panels are sound and the parts are available, repair is right. If the door is beyond economical repair we say so before we travel rather than after, so you are not paying for a visit that ends in a recommendation you could have had over the phone.
Common faults we see in Zimbabwe
Springs and cables at the end of their cycle life on doors that have been in service a long time. Motors damaged by unstable supply and surges. Tracks and rollers worn by dust. And doors that have been forced open by hand during outages because the manual release was seized or nobody knew where it was.
Surge damage and electrical protection
An unstable supply kills more control boards here than mechanical wear kills motors. Where we repair or replace a drive we fit proper surge protection at the same time, because putting a new board on an unprotected supply is a repair with a short future.
Spares kits so the next fault is not a trip
On any property with several doors we will put together a small spares kit to keep on site: springs in the right rating, cables, rollers, a remote and the common electrical parts. Your own maintenance people or a local electrician can then deal with the routine faults without waiting for us.
Booking a repair in Zimbabwe
Send photographs, the opening size and the location. We will tell you honestly what it looks like, what we would bring, and when we are next travelling to that part of the country.
Common questions
About garage door repairs
A broken or fatigued torsion spring, almost certainly. The spring carries the weight of the door — when it goes, you are lifting the full panel yourself. Stop using it and call us. Springs under load are the single most dangerous part of a garage door and are not a DIY job.
Usually a stripped drive gear or a sheared coupling rather than a dead motor, which is good news because it is the cheaper of the two. It can also mean the manual release has been pulled and not re-engaged — worth checking before you call.
That is the safety beam doing its job. Nine times out of ten one of the two sensors either side of the opening is dirty, knocked out of alignment or has a light shining into it. Wipe both lenses and check the indicator lights are steady before booking a callout.
Yes — most of our garage door work is on doors somebody else fitted. We handle roll-up, sectional and tip-up doors of all common makes. Where parts for a discontinued range genuinely no longer exist, we tell you upfront.
