- 0.5mm to 0.8mm galvanised sheet
- Chromadek or powder-coated to any RAL
- Roll-up, sectional or tip-up
Steel is what we build most Zimbabwean orders from. It is the strongest material for the money, it takes hard use, and above all it can be repaired on site with ordinary workshop skills. On a cross-border supply that last point outweighs almost everything else.
Steel garage doors we supply into Zimbabwe
- Steel sectional doors in ribbed, panelled and flush profiles.
- Steel roll-up doors for low-headroom and out-of-square openings, and for outbuildings.
- Steel tip-up doors on new or existing frames.
- Insulated steel doors where the space is worked in all day.
Repairable with what is available
A dented steel panel can be straightened, a damaged section replaced, a frame welded. Any competent workshop in a Zimbabwean town can work on a steel door, which means a knock does not become an import. That is why we specify steel on nearly every working building we supply here.
Galvanised before it is coated
Every steel door we supply is galvanised before it is coated, so a scratch stays a scratch rather than becoming a rust line down the panel. In the valley and the lowveld we specify heavier galvanising with a topcoat over it, because heat and humidity there are considerably harder on steel than on the highveld.
Gauge specified generously
Because service intervals here are longer and replacement is a shipment, we specify gauge on the durable side rather than the economical side. A slightly heavier panel costs a little more once and removes a category of problem entirely.
Steel doors on farms, mines and workshops
On any building where machinery, vehicles or hard use are involved, steel is the only sensible answer. A damaged slat or section is swapped or fabricated; the door does not become a write-off.
Insulated steel doors
An insulated steel door is stiffer, quieter and far better where the space is a workshop, an office or a flatlet. Under lowveld or valley sun the temperature difference in a working building is substantial.
Security on a steel garage door
Panel strength is only part of it. The locking, the track fixings and, on a motorised door, a drive that holds the door down are what stop a door being lifted. On Zimbabwean orders we specify locking heavier than the equivalent domestic job.
Spares supplied with the door
Every steel door goes out with a spares kit sized to it: the wearing hardware, seals and, on motorised doors, electrical spares and a remote. It is the cheapest insurance available on a door that lives across a border from its manufacturer.

The most cost-effective door for most openings here. Priced on width and height, panel profile, gauge, coating, insulation and drive, with crating, transport, clearing and installation shown separately.
Common questions
About steel garage doors
Between 0.5mm and 0.8mm galvanised sheet. The gauge is the specification that matters most — thin sheet dents when something falls against it. We quote the gauge on every proposal so you can compare offers on the same basis.
Chromadek is a factory-applied coil coating: tough, consistent and hard to beat for durability. Powder coating lets us match any RAL colour to the trim on your house. Both go over galvanising, never over bare steel.
Only if the coating is breached and left. It starts at the bottom rail, where the door stands in driveway water, and around fixings. We use galvanised bottom rails, seal cut edges and fit a proper bottom seal. Inland a maintained steel door runs well over a decade.
We do not work that way. Older South African garages are rarely square, and forcing a stock-size door into an out-of-square opening is what leaves the daylight gap down one side. Every door is built to the measured opening.
