- 40mm insulated panels
- Full perimeter weather seals
- Glazed panel options
A sectional garage door lifts in hinged panels and runs back along the ceiling. It is the best-sealing and best-looking garage door type, and on a well-built Zimbabwean home it is the right choice. It is also the type with the most moving parts, which on a cross-border supply is a consideration rather than a detail.
Sectional garage doors we supply into Zimbabwe
- Steel sectional doors in ribbed, panelled and flush profiles.
- Insulated sectional doors with a foam core for garages used as living or work space.
- Aluminium and glazed sections where the door is part of the elevation.
- Timber-look finishes for the appearance without the maintenance.
Specified so spares are obtainable
Hinges, rollers, brackets, cables and tension components are the parts that wear on a sectional door, and there are a lot of them. We build to standard hardware sizes and supply a spares kit with the door, so the routine replacements can be done by your own people without waiting on a shipment.
Headroom, side room and a square opening
A sectional door needs around three hundred millimetres above the opening, clear space each side for the tracks, and a reasonably true reveal. Where a garage was added later or the reveal has moved, a rigid door will bind, and we will recommend a roll-up shutter instead. That is an honest recommendation, not a downgrade.
Manual operation matters here too
A sectional door with a rail-mounted operator has a release cord, and it is the item most likely to have been ignored until the evening it is needed. We fit the release, test it, demonstrate it and note it in the documentation, and we quote battery backup as part of the installation.
Sealing against dust
The panel face sits against the frame all the way round, which makes a sectional door far better sealed than any alternative. On a property on a dirt road or near a working yard, that perimeter seal is the difference between a garage you can store things in and one you cannot.
Insulated sectional doors
An insulated door makes a real difference where the garage is a workshop, an office or a flatlet, and under lowveld or valley sun the difference is substantial. Insulated panels are also stiffer and quieter.
Springs, balance and safety
A sectional door is balanced by torsion assemblies, and that balance is what protects the motor and the household. We rate them to the door mass and the cycle count, fit cable safety devices where the design calls for them, and supply a matched replacement set as part of the spares kit because these are the parts you cannot improvise.

Common questions
About sectional garage doors
Around 300mm to 450mm of clear space above the lintel for a standard track, though low-headroom kits recover part of that. Measure to the ceiling or the nearest beam, whichever is lower, and send us the figure before you order anything.
The panels are hinged and run on rollers in a track rather than curling around a barrel, and the section joints seal against each other. On an insulated door the foam core also damps the drumming that makes a single-skin door boom.
Yes. Glazed panels can go into any section, most often the second row down so daylight comes in at eye level. Toughened, frosted and tinted glass are all available, and an aluminium-framed full-view door is a step further again.
They have more moving parts than a tip-up door — rollers, hinges, cables and springs — so an annual service matters more. In exchange the wear is spread across many small parts that are cheap to replace individually.
