Transparent Roller Shutter Doors in Zimbabwe

A transparent roller shutter door locks an opening without hiding what is behind it. It is a specialist product, and in Zimbabwe it suits a narrower set of positions than it would in a city. We would rather set that out than sell one into the wrong place.

How a transparent roller shutter door is built

• Polycarbonate panels linked by aluminium slats, so the curtain rolls like any other.
• Full-height glazed curtains where the whole opening should stay visible.
• Mixed curtains with a solid or perforated lower section under a glazed upper.
• Standard guides and locking, so security is not traded away for visibility.

Where a glazed shutter earns its place here

Retail units in shopping centres and arcades where the display should keep working after closing. Showrooms and dealerships. Internal access openings where seeing through the door before it opens is a safety matter. And hotel and lodge retail spaces that must be secured without becoming a steel wall in a public area.

Where it is the wrong choice

Anywhere with dust, impact or hard sun on the panel face. Mine and industrial yards, agricultural buildings, and any opening exposed to full lowveld or valley sun where the panels will discolour. We will recommend a perforated steel curtain instead in those cases, which is also the cheaper sale.

Security of a glazed curtain

Polycarbonate flexes rather than shatters and resists impact well, but it is not steel. On any street-facing opening we specify a solid or perforated lower section under a glazed upper so the reachable part of the door is steel. Where response times are long, that steel section carries the security and the glazed part carries the display.

Replacement panels and the border

This is the practical caution. A scratched or cracked polycarbonate panel is a replacement item, and a replacement item is a shipment. We supply spare panels with the original order on any glazed installation so a damaged one can be swapped without waiting, and we build to standard panel sizes for the same reason.

Cleaning

Polycarbonate scratches more easily than glass and dust accelerates it. Cleaning with the correct materials matters, and we cover it at handover and leave it in the documentation rather than assuming it will be obvious.

Motorisation

These curtains are light, so tube motors handle them comfortably. Manual release and surge protection are fitted as standard, as on every powered door we install here.

Maintenance

Clean the panels, keep the guides clear, service the door on the scheduled visit. A glazed shutter that is not cleaned stops doing the one thing it was bought to do.
